Hello there, we're Laura and Steve. We got married on the Amalfi coast and loved it, infact our family had four weddings there over the last few years, since three of my four sisters got married in this corner of paradise. Year after year we got to know the place, and the wedding planning business more and more, so we thought we'd share some information with other Amalfi coast brides and grooms to be, who could use a few hints. All of our weddings were absolutely great, but after the first one we realized that you can get a more personal wedding experience, and save quite a bit of money, organizing things yourselves.
It's really a lot easier than what it seems, especially if you plan ahead. Start by contacting hotels that you like as a possible reception venue, and for accommodation (if you are a big group you could ask the hotel for a special offer), or you could also try contacting some smaller establishments (such as bed and breakfasts) for some of your guests.
The hotel you choose will quite surely help you organize cocktail hour and reception. Some hotels can also provide information about church or town hall ceremony, and have someone who can handle the necessary paperwork for you for a reasonable fee. Otherwise you can hire a wedding planner to do just that. It will be so much cheaper than their "packages". Then you'll need one or more musicians for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, a florist for decorations, and a photographer. But these are quite easy to find and contact through the internet.
Plus hotel management and staff are usually very helpful if you book your wedding reception with them, and a few rooms for bride, groom, and guests. So they might help with ceremony (if it's on the hotel grounds), organize transfers, and make everything much easier. While florists can also provide hair and make up stylists.
Below you'll find some links to Amalfi coast hotels, photographers, musicians, florists, etc. we know, to help you plan your own perfect Amalfi coast wedding (most popular locations are: Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Furore). And of course you can use the internet to find more information and contacts.
Good luck and have fun!
Laura and Steve
